Our carbon net-zero journey
We are committed to protecting the world through manufacturing, distributing and selling products that are driving the UK energy and net-zero transition, including solar PV panels and accessories, heat pumps and electric vehicle chargers.
Net-zero carbon means balancing the greenhouse gas emissions we produce with the emissions we remove, resulting in no net impact on the climate. This ambitious goal demonstrates our dedication to reducing emissions across our operations and value chain, enabling the transition to a low-carbon economy.
To achieve this, we have committed to setting near-term and net-zero emission reduction targets aligned with the latest climate science through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The SBTi is a globally recognised body that enables businesses to set ambitious, science-based emissions reduction targets.
The latest climate science indicates that we need to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C which means achieving net-zero emissions before 2050.
Our commitment encompasses reducing our own direct emissions from fuel for transport and heating and also our indirect emissions associated with the manufacturing and use of our products.
Our goals for 2024 and beyond
Later this year, we will submit our near-term and net-zero targets for validation by the SBTi. Our aim is to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040 – a full decade ahead of the UK government's legally mandated target of 2050.
We are also developing a comprehensive net-zero carbon roadmap which will outline all the actions that our wholesale, distribution, and manufacturing businesses will take to reach our net-zero goal. This includes transitioning to renewable electricity and electric vehicles to phase out the use of fossil fuels.
